Spades is a 4-player trick-taking card game played in two partnerships. At the start of each round, every player bids the number of tricks they believe they can take. Spades are always trump. The team that reaches 250 or 500 points wins the game. Strategy, communication, and sharp card play are the keys to victory.

- Bid the number of tricks you expect to win each round
- Follow the led suit; if you cannot, play a spade or discard
- The highest card in the led suit or the highest spade wins the trick
- Spades cannot be led until they have been broken as trump
